TCEB LAUNCHES “MICE WINNOVATION” FOR NEW NORMAL EVENTS MATCHING MICE ENTREPRENEURS & TECH ENTREPRENEURS

26 March 2021, Bangkok: TCEB launches “MICE Winnovation” project to promote the utilisation of innovation and technology in organising MICE events. Four key project features are designed to match MICE entrepreneurs and tech entrepreneurs: platform showcasing products and services of tech entrepreneurs, business negotiation platform, funding support package and workshops aiming to enhance efficiency in new normal MICE operation with innovation and technology.

Mr. Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, President, Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) or TCEB, stated that TCEB has focused on technology and innovation development for MICE industry as seen by “Thailand’s MICE Startup” project. Running the project for 3 consecutive years since 2018, we have educated and incubated Thai startups resulting in innovation and technology for holding MICE events and 5 pairs of MICE entrepreneurs and tech entrepreneurs designing the solutions for organising events during the COVID-19 situation.

Despite outstanding innovation created during the project implementation, MICE entrepreneurs have been facing lack of support factors, for example, databank on MICE innovation and technology, funding to secure innovation. To address such pain points and help realise the utilisation of technology, TCEB has launched “MICE Winnovation” to provide all-round support for MICE entrepreneurs to achieve efficient and fruitful business operation. The support includes the development of innovation and technology databank, marketing fund, business matching platform and education on putting innovation into actual practice.

The“MICE Winnovation”project aims at successful and tangible outcomes of utilising innovation and technology in remedying the pain points with the resultant business differentiation that can boost the international competitiveness. Apart from that, the project is creating opportunities for Thai tech entrepreneurs to develop innovation that can tap into MICE industry.

“MICE Winnovation” project is developed with the following 4 main activities:

1. MICE Innovation Catalog - an online platform that features the directory of tech entrepreneurs who can offer solutions or the continuation of MICE business. Products and services are categorised to span the cycle of events from pre-event, onsite and post-event. To access the catalogue, interested persons can register at https://innocatalog.tceb.or.th/ to find and select the desired solutions and make direct contact with the service providers.

2. Technomart – business opportunity platform for tech entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services and make business matching with MICE entrepreneurs from all region of the country.

3. Inno-Voucher – an innovation coupon for MICE entrepreneurs to seek funding support from TCEB in utilising innovation for holding MICE events after their business matching with MICE entrepreneurs selected from MICE Innovation Catalog. Support is divided into 4 types: Tech Max providing up to 100,000 THB support for domestic exhibition with no less than 1,000 square-metre event space; Convene+ targeting online platform for organising international conventions with minimum 50 attendance and up to 200,000 THB support; New Norm Support providing up to 200,000 THB support for international exhibition with no less than 800 square-metre event space; N2N tech Savvy designed for festival held at least for 2 days with no less than 1,000 visitors and up to 500,000 baht funding.

In addition, there is Hero Technology package, which was designed as a crisis support to reduce the number of postponed and cancelled events. The package provides virtual/hybrid event solutions and crowd management technology. Application is open now until 30 September 2021.

4. Digital Literacy of MICE – an initiative to support MICE entrepreneurs to join either online or offline workshops to exchange views and knowledge on MICE innovation and technology with experts. Postcast will also be developed on a quarterly basis in 2021 as a medium of knowledge on MICE industry and digital marketing so that MICE entrepreneurs can maximise it to elevate their business.
