TCEB Situation Update COVID-19 Virus on 28 February 2022

Regarding to the actual situation of the spreading of the COVID-19 in Thailand, The Royal Thai Government has accordingly adjusted the measures of entry to Thailand in response to the current situation. The Prime Minister therefore issued the terms and conditions to be effective from 1 March 2022 as follows: 

Adjustment for inbound travellers

The Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has adjusted the measures of entry to Thailand in response to the current situation which will be effective from 1 March 2022. The details are as follows:

1. The registration is opened for type (1) travellers, those who are permitted to enter Thailand for economic benefits along with the security of public health according to the plan of opening the country of the government, and type (2) travellers, those who are permitted to enter Thailand in an area designated as a pilot tourism area for the benefits of economy, tourism, or other activities in accordance with the government policies. However, the registration for type (2) travellers is opened only in the case that they travel to Krabi, Phuket, Phang Nga, Surat Thani (only Koh Tao, Koh Pha-Ngan, and Koh Samui), Chon Buri (only Bang Lamung District, Pattaya City, Si Racha District, Sattahip District (only Tambon Na Jomtien and Tambon Bang Sare), and Trat (only Koh Chang District).

2. The disease preventive measures have been adjusted for type (1) travellers, those who are permitted to enter Thailand for economic benefits along with the security of public health according to the plan of opening the country of the government. The details are as follows:

            2.1 Travellers must have the proof of the payment for accommodations or government-designated quarantine facilities for the first day in the country, the proof of the payment for one COVID-19 using RT-PCR test, and the payment for one COVID-19 using ATK self-test kit. The hotel, accommodation, or government-designated quarantine facilities must be in partnership with certified hospitals under the government-designated principles. The proof of accommodations or quarantine facilities of the first day for the travellers who enter the country by sea travel must comply with the regulations of the Operation Centre for Measures on the Entry into and Departure from the Kingdom, and Protection of Thai Nationals Abroad and Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Center.

            2.2 For travellers who enter the country by air travel, the respiratory symptoms and the body temperature must be checked and the required documents must be verified and handed to disease control officers. 

            The guidelines and conditions are as follows:

                        1) In case of travelling with direct flights, the respiratory symptoms and the body temperature must be checked and the documents must be verified by disease control officers and immigration control officers at international arrival area.

                        2) In case of travelling with indirect flights and connecting flights to other airports in the country, travellers must follow one of these two options.

                                a. The respiratory symptoms and the body temperature must be checked and the documents must be verified by disease control officers and immigration control officers at international arrival area before travelling a connecting flight to other domestic airports.

                                b. The respiratory symptoms and the body temperature must be checked and the documents must be verified by disease control officers and immigration control officers at international arrival area or at the destination airport in the country.

            2.3 In case of entering to Thailand by land and sea travel, the respiratory symptoms and the body temperature must be checked and the documents must be verified by disease control officers and immigration control officers at international arrival area or in government-designated areas.

            2.4 Travellers must travel to hotels, accommodations, or government-designated quarantine facilities which must be in partnership with certified hospitals and located in government-designated areas or provinces to have one COVID-19 using RT-PCR test via a sealed-route within five hours in a provided vehicle. While waiting for the result of the test, travellers must not go outside of the accommodations. Children travellers under six years old can take the test by using saliva.

                        1) If the first RT-PCR test result is negative, travellers are allowed to continue travelling in the country and must strictly follow public health measures. The hotel, accommodation, or government-designated quarantine facilities that are in partnership with certified hospitals must provide the ATK self-test kit to travellers for day 5 or 6 of their stay or when respiratory symptoms are present. Travellers must report and record the test result in the government- designated application or system.

                        2) If the first RT-PCR test result is positive, travellers must inform to disease control officers immediately. Travellers must be under medical care of the partner hospital or transferred to other hospitals designated by the Ministry of Public Health. Travellers are responsible for the tests and the medical expenses, or depending on the agreement between the accommodations and the travellers, or health coverage service rights legally.

3. The disease preventive measures have been adjusted for type (2) travellers, those who are permitted to enter Thailand in an area designated as a pilot tourism area for the benefits of economy, tourism, or other activities in accordance with the government policies, who enter to Thailand in pilot tourism areas including Krabi, Phuket, Phang Nga, Surat Thani (only Koh Tao, Koh Phagnan, and Koh Samui), Chon Buri (only Bang Lamung District, Pattaya City, Si Racha District, Sattahip (only Tambon Jomtien and Tambon Bang Sare), and Trat (only Koh Chang District). Travellers must have the proof of one COVID-19 using RT-PCR test and they must travel in the pilot tourism areas under the following guidelines and conditions:

            3.1 Travellers must have the proof of the payment for accommodations or government-designated quarantine facilities for at least 7 days, the proof of the payment for one COVID-19 using RT-PCR test, and the payment for one COVID-19 using ATK self-test kit. The hotel, accommodation, or government- designated quarantine facilities must be in partnership with certified hospitals under the government- designated principles. These measures are also applied to travellers who have accommodation in the pilot tourism areas.

            3.2 Travellers must travel to the hotels, accommodations, or government-designated quarantine facilities that are in partnership with certified hospitals and located in the pilot tourism areas to have one COVID-19 using RT-PCR test via a sealed-route within five hours in a provided vehicle. While waiting for the result of the test, travellers must not go outside the accommodations. Children travellers under six years old can take the test by using saliva.

                        1) If the first RT-PCR test result is negative, travellers are allowed to continue travelling in the pilot tourism areas and must strictly follow public health measures. The hotel, accommodation, or government-designated quarantine facilities that are in partnership with certified hospitals must provide the COVID-19 using ATK self-test kit to travellers for day 5 or 6 of their stay or when respiratory symptoms are present. Travellers must report and record the test result in the government-designated application or system.

                        2) If the first RT-PCR test result is positive, travellers must inform to disease control officers immediately. Travellers must be under medical care of the partner hospital or transferred to other hospitals designated by the Ministry of Public Health. Travellers are responsible for the tests and the medical expenses, or depending on the agreement between the accommodations and the travellers, or health coverage service rights legally. 

            3.3 If travellers enter to Thailand in pilot tourism areas in this group of provinces including Krabi, Phuket, Phang Nga, Surat Thani (only Koh Tao, Koh Pha-Ngan, and Koh Samui), and the first RT-PRC result test is negative, travellers can travel in these provinces, and change hotels, accommodations, or government-designated quarantine facilities not more than three places that are situated only in pilot tourism areas. 

4. The disease preventive measures have been adjusted for type (1) travellers, those who are permitted to enter the country for economic benefits along with the security of public health according to the plan of opening the country of the government, type (2) travellers, those who are permitted to enter the country in an area designated as a pilot tourism area for the benefits of economy, tourism, or other activities in accordance with the government policies, type (4) travellers, which are freight forwarders as necessary that when the mission is completed, they have to leave the country without delay, type (5) travellers, which are vehicle operators or vehicle personnel who are required to enter on a mission and have a clear time to leave the country, and type (6) travellers, those who enter the country under disease control and preventive measures in quarantine facilities prescribed by the government. They must have a proof of insurance for medical expenses with coverage of 20,000 USD, or following the official criteria, during their stay in Thailand except for Thai nationals or foreign nationals who have Thai social security for medical care rights legally.

5. Travellers must strictly follow the preventive measures in number 3 and 4 and other measures previously announced under the monitoring and verification of the hotel, accommodations or government-designated quarantine facilities, following official criteria and guidelines.
