Today (24 July) International Diabetes Federation (IDF), together with Diabetes Association of Thailand, Ministry of Public Health, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), held a press conference to announce the country’s bid success as Bangkok is selected to host "IDF World Diabetes Congress 2025", one of the world's largest conferences on diabetes. The Congress in 2025 will be its first edition in the Southeast Asia region, reinforcing Thailand’s strategy towards becoming a global Medical Hub as well as leveraging Thai medical and public health. The Congress in 2025 is forecast to attract 10,000 participants from around the world, generating over 420 million baht in revenue.
Held at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen's Park, the press conference panelists include Mr. Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, President of Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB); Prof. Akhtar Hussain, President of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF); Prof. Emeritus Wannee Nitiyanant, M.D., President of the Diabetes Association of Thailand; Dr. Narong Saiwong, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health, and Mr. Suksan Kittisupakorn, Deputy Governor of Bangkok.
This press conference has garnered significant attention from the media. IDF 2025 is a great opportunity for Thailand to host an international medical conference of global importance. The event will bring together various stakeholders from the public and private sectors, as well as individuals involved in diabetes care, to collaborate as excellent hosts for this prestigious event. IDF World Diabetes Congress 2025 (IDF 2025) will be held from April 7th to 10th, 2025 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC).
